feeding

hi

i just got a green anole. and have every thing set up. i was wontering when i feed him the wealworms i cut the head. after that do i put it in a dish and he finds it and eats them or do i have to put it up to his mouth.

thanks for the help.

Mealworms can be fed on occasion but should not be the main feeder. Not overyone agrees that you need to cut the heads off mealworms, but if you do, you should remove them from the tank once they quit moving because anoles will usually not eat insects that are dead or not moving. Hand feeding isn't necessary.

Anoles are somewhat tricky sub-tropical lizards...there are easier reptiles to care for, contrary to popular belief. Leopard Geckos are much easier to caore for, for example.

You should get your parents to help you do some research on how to properly take care of anole. They should be made aware that taking care of anoles costs money.

Perhaps you could describe your set up for us so that we might offer some suggestions.

I agree, mealworms should only be fed occasionally. A better staple food are small live crickets. Dust them lightly in calcium powder and throw some into the tank, your anole will relish them!
