well ive had socrates, my pacman, for somewhere over a month and he didnt eat for the first three weeks i had him, then i started noticing that crickets would be missing from the tank in the morning, so i take this as he is eating, considering he is still alive right now. but he doesnt move at all during the day, the only sign of life i see is he blinks when i mist the cage. and when i wake up in the mornings or if i get home from an event late at night i see him out and slightly away from the place he burrows at, but then when i get home from school that day he is back in his same old spot. is this behavior bad or should i not worry about it. i think that hes not eating near enough for his size but he just wont eat food when i offer it to him or just leave it in the tank. like i said i am slightly concerned and really just want him to be healthy. any help or suggestions would be more than greatly appreciated. thanks in advance!

Hi Josiah,

I don't think you have anything to be concerned about. That sounds like normal horned frog behavior to me. They aren't very active animals. Young horned frogs can be fed one to three large crickets two or three times a week. Adult horned frogs can be fed once a week or less in larger quantities. Feeder insects that aren't eaten in a few hours should be removed from the cage so that they don't injure the frog. Horned frogs can go for long periods of time without any food at all so as long as your frog is eating something, I don't think you have much to worry about. Good luck,
