Help! How do I get rid of or sell my turtles??

nagelchris Jul 05, 2003 04:43 PM

Hi,
Due to fact that I have small children, my wife wants me to get rid of my turtle collection, which consists of some beautiful specimens of Eastern box, ornate box, 3-toed box, american wood, and eastern painted turtles. I have a lot of money tied up in these awesome creatures and would like to sell them but I do no know how? Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Chris

i would buy your eastern from you, how much are you asking?

I would definately be interested in your Eastern and Ornate boxies. Let me know how much you want for them and what you have. Mike

Go to the classified section and sell them. This isn't the right place. If you don't want to pay the fee to sell them there, then go to the classified section on turtletimes which is free.

I agree. This isn't the place for this conversation: you could probably get a grip on what's fair by reading what's already out there, then post in the classifieds.
Good luck!

i understand the pressure that wives can put on you when kids are in the picture...i was forced to give away an awesome redtail boa with the birth of my first son. however, that was understandable...the boa posed a fatal risk to the child. out of curiosity, what is the logic that your wife is using? how does she believe that they are not safe for children? my turtles are, i have found, a GREAT way to have both my kids learn about, care for and respect nature. it is a family affair to feed my 5 turts. caring for animals creates compassion in children. it doesn't have to be turtles but to me they are pretty harmless creatures, if you teach your children to respect them. i am not criticizing your wife's wishes, but this is a great opportunity to expose kids to science and nature. hope you find good homes for them. where are you located by the way?

Chris-
I know the pressure wives can put on husbands because I am a wife. I don't know where you live or where you keep your turtles (inside or out), but I have really made my turtles a great learning experience for our kids. They are not allowed to play with the turtles unsupervised (actually, they don't really play with them at all), or go in the turtle pen, but they have learned so much about science and nature by watching them. Just last night, our oldest daughter watched as one of ours laid eggs. Really fun!
