Here are a few pictures of my NEW 2005 hatching Incubator. I built this out of a USED upright freezer. Seems to be working fine. With No condensation on the glass. Hope you all like it. thanks DAVID

The heat source is a heat pannel located at the bottom of the unit with a helix DBS 1000 temp control. The wallpaper is a spunge technique me and my girlfriend did, we used blue, dark green and light green spunged one at different times, it was a spare room until I took it over for the ball pythons...That is my new ball room, the other room will have my other snakes it it. You may want to go with a Helix Basic system for your incubator instead of the DBS because the DBS will vary - one degree. The regular Basic system only varies 1/10 of a degree so they are much more accurate and much better for incubators. Just a suggestion. Good luck!

Thanks, I will look into that. The helix Dbs seem to be working fine though. If I can get a basic system for a good deal I may switch. Thanks DAVID

I have been looking forward to building myself an upright freezer incubator this summer. Yours looks beautiful. Ive done some looking around and have a pretty general idea about how to put one together but I was wondering if you could post a detailed instuctions of how you built yours.....Only because it looks so nice of course.

OK, Here is what I did.

I went and got a old freezer(60.00 at the trift store) it worked and I hated to ruin a good freezer but I didn't have time to wait for someone to toss one.

The I went and got a 3/8 in thick sheet of glass(35.00 on sale from 75.00) from a local glass shop, But i was told they would order me some double pane glass for 45.00 and it was sealed with argon gas but it would take 2 weeks I didn't have the time so I got the other.

The I got a steel blade skil saw to cut the steel door. I stripped the freezer, pulled the compresser. striped the door and begun to mark my lines to cut. I cut it and the I framed it with 2x4s so that the glass would fit correctly, I framed the glass in the door and set with screws and then caulked it. I the framed the edges with a white corner trim. I then cut the FRP material like is used in bathrooms to fit the inside of the Incubator. I then cut the plastic part that has the sealing maganit inside to make sure the door seals. I the attached it back to the inside of the door.

Heat source: I used a Heat Pannel that was givin to me by a buddy of mine That owns Dixie Reptile shows. I attached it to the floor with screws and then I drilled a 3/4 inch hole in the back of the feezer in the right hand lower corner. for the cords to go through. All of the hole are lined with the proper sized rubber gromlet. Then I attached the HELIX DBS 1000 and set the temp for 100 to see how fast the incubator take to heat. The incubator held a steady temp so I lowered the temp to the required 89 degrees and it has been working fine since. However I do NOT have eggs in yet, but I should soon.

The door is the hardest part of the whole Incubator. You don't have to have the Nice View window that is just something I wanted. thanks DAVID
