It really hurts to lose one of these guys

PAL Jul 05, 2003 05:05 PM

My almost 2 year old veiled chameleon died fairly abruptly today. (We had our house tented for termites last week and I think that the stress of relocation combined with whatever residual insecticide is left after they "clear" the house for re-entry led to his death). He died on the way to the vet's office. I can't stop crying! How on earth do you get so attached to these funny creatures??

I know I would be bummed if one of my chameleons passed away. I spend so much time, money, and effort on them. Stress is the big killer for chameleons. Sorry

...a lot of forum posters have recently encountered this loss. It is amazing how attaced to these animals we find ourselves. I think their uniqueness adds to it. Cold-Blooded? hardly

thinking of you...

My most sincerest condolences on your loss. It's funny how we can become so attached to these scaly, testy little jewels and their grumpy behaviour. You learned something from this death and taught us all to be so very careful in similar situations. We all know what this grief is like.

*hugging you*
