2 yr old redfoot laying eggs?

redd Jan 24, 2005 12:56 PM

My sons 2 yr old redfoot has recently strted digging hold and burying herself. She has never done this before.

1. Should I be concerned and do I need to do anything?

2. Should I change her diet?

3. Is she old enough to lay eggs?

4. What else?

Thanks,

Steve

A assume you mean a redfoot tortoise? If it is only 2 years old I doubt it is old enough to lay eggs. Besides they only dig with their back legs and make a pit to deposit their eggs in not bury themselves entirely.

what is the environment that it is in like. Heat lamps, temperature, humidity, substrate? Do you have a shallow tub for it to soak in? do you soak it regularly? Not sure if there is a problem because you have not given much information on how you keeping it.

I have several and they do like to occaisional dig into the substrate.
