Here is the deal, I have one female that is being very stuck up this season. I have been rotating two different males with her, and even thought they try....the tails only stay together for an hour or less, which lead me to beleive that copulation did not actually occur. The two males are breeding all the other female that I have (and staying locked up for days), so the problem is diffinitely not the males.
Also, the female did lay seven perfect eggs for me last season that all hatched, and she has gained all her weight back, plus some (she is almost 3000 grams). So my question is:
We all have heard of different tricks to get the males going, but what about the females?? I have heard that it may be good to keep the "unwilling" female with females that are breeding. Something about the females that are breeding will put off pheromones that the other female will pick up on ???
The second question is, do you guys think that since she laid eggs last year......she may just not want to be bred again this year?? How many of you guys have females that will not breed consecutively year after year?? Last year was her first year to produce. Any help and advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
B. Rollins
