Blaze Phase "goini"...recessive gene

Sean Jan 24, 2005 08:49 PM

I've noticed that Gulf Coast sells Blaze Phase and het for Blaze Phase "goini". So obviously there is a recessive gene responsible. My question, what does everyone else think it is then? As I've said before, I've talked with several people about this and I believe it to be Hypo. If you haven't seen pics of some of the juveniles Gulf Coast has produced, some were sent to me and I can post them on here if that is allowed.

Going off of neonate looks I used to believe they were hypERtheristic now having adults I believe hypomelanistic, as you initially said, is more discriptive. Where the gene came from I can't say for sure but untill proven otherwise, I suspect that it originated honestly in Chris and Shela's collection. As I've said before I'm not sure why they would market "albino" goini at a cross price and come clean about them and then turn around and lie about this one and market them at a price that reflects something originial.

i think they are just select individuals not neccisarily a morphe.select individuals bred to selects are likly to produse selects and ive never seen an adult with bold black they all seem to go hypo with age "maybe they're going gray".comments are always welcome this is only my opinion,so be nice.Chris

I think if someone would breed their male blaze to a female hypo brooksi and the offspring came out normal that would pove something. However if they came out hypo that will still not prove anything since many reccesive gene are allelic like the cal king and corn and the WS blackrat and WS everglades (ie Ghost glades) ect.

I am willing to use out my adult female hypo brooks for a breeding loan this year if anyone is interested?

I'd take you up on that. I'm currently raising a female het brooks but she wont be ready till next year. I'd just asssume find out this year.

If anyone does breed a Blaze with a hypo Florida King, please keep us posted. And make sure to get some pics of the offspring as I know I'd be more than interested in seeing them.

Will do Sean. It was actually your prompting that made me get the female brooks
