The wattage depends on the temp. of the tank. Do you have a thermometer or hygrometer?
Do not house crickets with the frog. It will stress him out and they might bite him while he is sleeping. Only put in the tank a few at a time. Remove all the ones he does not eat in the morning. You mentioned he has trouble catching them. If you see him attempting to eat, try getting tweezers and holding the cricket in front of his face for him. This way you know when and how many he is eating.

I use a 75 watt day lamp for my frogs, it provides heat if they want to go up and bask, and it brings out their colors. I've noticed that if I leave their light off for a day or two, when I come back they will many times be brownish. But if I turn it on everyday, they are consistently brightly colored. As for habitat, mine are housed in a tall 25 gallon tank, with logs and branches and trees and vines everywhere, and a rock pool, it looks like a miniature jungle. Keeping the tank away from the window and misted everyday is important, these guys can dry up very quickly.
Also with the food thing, my juvie is about 2 inches long, and skinny from the store. Today I tried feeding him large crickets instead of small, and he loved them! They are slower moving, so he's able to catch him. I don't know how big yours is, but you could try that. Also, I suggested wax worms earlier, not meal worms. Wax worms are like twinkies, big soft white grubs full of fat. Petco usually has them in the fridge in the reptile section, and most mom & pop shops have them too.
Good luck!
