Florida banded water eating something different

justin stricklin Jan 24, 2005 08:57 PM

I thought it might have a hard time getting it down but I thought that I would try it anyways.. If it regurges Oh well.. I do not think it will. I have pulled these things off before. Oh and the size of the rabbit is only 1 1/2 times the largest part of its body so it should do well. Took about 45 minutes.

P.S. I made it thru without making a big tadpole pop up.lol.

Yes he ate it all. It realy did not leave as big a bulge as you might htink it would. As for the fur question it can soemtimes take a few trys for their system to adapt (in my experience) but it is fine. They may regurge once maybe twice and then the system is usualy adapted. You just have to scent at first. I worked my way up in the size of prey slowly and then I kinda doubled it yesterday. The snakes grow much faster and appear ovrall more healthy when eating rodents.

Where'd you get baby rabbits!? It seems that would make a great hair-free meal for the largest Nerodia.

Oh, I take it you never check the burmese python or retic forum? lol. I raise my rabbits to feed to my retics and burms and future conda(s). Perhaps when I start raising them realy well and have babies all hte time I could do a trade with you. Rabbit pinkies for some good water snakes? Shoot me an e-mail if interested. I figure they will be goign good about middle of the summer. I think I am using to low of protein for them but it is the only rabbit feed around. Oh the little florida water actualy did keep it down. The lump is only about 3/4 the size it was last night. The big female banded loved it. It took her about 2 minutes to swallow it and she swallowed it backwards. looks like she was eating a dog.lol.

I've seen alot of feedings in my time, that would seem so impossible it's unbelieveable, but that by far, is one of the most unbelieveable pics I've seen. It looks so much like the water snake could never get down the rabbit. Nice pic.

By the way, when I first looked at the pic, I thought the water snake was eating a hippo LOL, anyone else notice that?
