Help Timor Eggs

Cincy_150 Jan 24, 2005 09:37 PM

Ok my Kisar Island Timor had eggs. I have been gone from my house the last three days and my roommate has been feeding my timors. Tonight I went in to check on her and I noticed that she built a big mound of mulch. I searched through the mulch and found two eggs. Why she didn't use here nesting box I have no Idea but oh well. I Imediatly took them out and put them in the incubator. The problem is they don't feel very soft. I was wondering what kind of feel they should have? They look kind of shriveled but still borderline. Please someone clue me in. I assume that she still has a couple of more to go due to her wait and normal clutch size and I would like to figure this out before the next eggs come.
Thanks for anyones help.

one if she was not exposed to a male they are infertile
2nd they had dried out... if you put them in vermiculite with water (should be spongey) about 2/3 over the egg... it should regain its shape... if it starts growing hairs an looks like it is molding and stays wrinkly it is infertile...

if you have mold and it regains shape.. take a mixture of bleach water and dab a paper towel and wipe the egg... this is from too much water in the vermiculite

good luck

Yes she was with a male. I wouldn't try to incubate eggs if there was never a male around her. Thank you for your help. The eggs have not molded but they are looking a little better. I will say that they are some great parents. I went to check the nest for more eggs and bosth the male and the female were crazy aggresive.
