Can someone ID these?

zoddopez Jan 24, 2005 10:43 PM

We've had these guys for a while now, and always wondered what they were. Ever since I found this place I was amazed at the number of knowledgeable people here. Hopefully somebody can identify them. Here are the pics:

I know the third is blurry, but it's the best I could do at the time. If needed I can take more pics tomorrow. Thanks for helping identify these guys.

You have yourself three box turtles. Picture number one is possibly a three-toed box turtle (Terrapene Carolina triunguis), kinda hard to tell by the pic.

Picture number 2 is an Orante box turtle (Terrapene o. ornata)

Picture number 3 is the toughest. It's a box turtle, possibly an eastern (T. Carolina), but I can't sure.

Canidman has got it right, last picture like he said is blurry.
It's most likely like he said an Eastern. The only other thing it could be is a Gulf Coast. To help even further, the three-toed is a female and the ornate is a male. Can't tell with the last picture.

those are the worst nails I've seen in a long time, looks like they need a serious habitat upgrade.
