Clipping Collared toenails....

jakeleolizard Jan 25, 2005 12:34 PM

How often and how far down do you go? I have never clipped Dexters and his seem REALLY long! There is a long peice that looks like nail down to the nail itself... or maybe the whole thing is nail... I dunno... I know it isn't part of his leg though.

I asked this one recently and most of us never cut their collared nails. I did it twice on mine.

Long nails can be a problem on carpet substrate.

When I cut them, I stopped before the black part of the nail.
The black part is 3/4 of the nail and the white part is the 1/4 left approx. I think that this way, it doesn't hurt the lizard.
