what skink for beginner?

I am brand new to reptiles and I have noticed that blue tongued skinks are quite popular as far as skinks go and I was wondering if they would be any good for a beginner. If not, which skink is best or should I get another animal entirely?

Go to bluetongueskinks.net and read about blue-tongued skinks some and see if you think it would be a good pet for you. I think they make excellent pets, but why not decide after you've learned a little about their care, species differences, dietary requirements, enclosures and lighting, etc.?
