Any tips for removing water spottage on glass tank???

johnnyblazekfd Jan 25, 2005 11:54 PM

I tried windex and some elbow grease and am unable to remove the water spottage on my glass tank for my pixie. I had a filter in their and the constant splashing of water has made it to where you can barely see in the tank anymore. I think I remember someone mentioning ammonia or vinegar removing it pretty well, which is it? or is there something else that somebody else has found to work better. thanks for any input... jon

I always use Vinegar distilled with water. It doesn't totally get rid of the stains but it definitely helps. And when you're done, make sure you rinse well! I seem to remember reading about someone scraping the stains off with a razor? I dunno maybe not.

Hope this helps!

Hi, I am not sure what you mean, Is it on the inside or the outside of the tank, cause if it is on the inside, you shouldn't use windex and stuff, might hurt the frogs. What I would suggest for the inside is getting some water dechlorinator, and dripping some on a toothbrush, and them scrub really hard, then rinse, that works really well, and is safe. Good luck.

Just keep in mind that if the water spotting has been heavy enough it will etch the glass.
A razor blade can also be used to remove it.

Yeah, its on the inside of the tank. i used the windex but I made sure it was washed out very well before replacing the frogs in the enclosure.
