Gecko won't use her lay box

momtowildones Jan 26, 2005 12:48 AM

I have 1 female who won't use her lay box! I recently changed to moss in all of my lay boxes because my leos were pooping gold vermiculite. I had read that moss was the way to go. Everyone has adjusted and actaully seem to like the new medium except one. I have even put another lay box shaped differently with a hole cut in a different place, and she layed her clutch on the warm tile. The first time she did this I chalked it up to first clutch and infertile ( I read that leos sometimes do this) but when I came home today I found two dried up eggs on the tile. I beleive they were fertile because I could detect a pink vein in each egg.
Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Suzanne

On a positive note- I have 4 good eggs from other leos in the incubator!

sounds like maybe the lay box is not warm enough for her tastes. Maybe she would like to have all boys? Anyway, they can be pretty particular. Could be a lot of things, too hot, too cold, too wet, too dry, not ready to lay, etc. Just keep trying. sorry I couldn't be more help.
