How long will it take for collareds to show colors?

breakfastatme Jul 05, 2003 08:19 PM

2 of mine are showing a hint of color. How will I know if it will get darker and brighter? I feed insects dusted with cricket dust and an occasional pinky. Is there anything else that I should be doing? My female is showing some light blue on her back and legs and a light pink on her tail.

Thanks in advance!!

Tiff, about all I can say is with each shed as they are growing their colors seem to get brighter or become more evident, but ya just never know how much color until they mature abit, my Zuni at 2 years old is still getting light yellow striping, they dont fully mature until 3 years of age, but you will see color coming like I said with each shed, they change. Your question bout food, seems as though thats normal, alot of people say getting them in natural sun light helps their color big time. So thats all I know, its fun waiting to see what they will look like , Hope they are all doing great ! You too ! Eve

It is fun to watch!!

I get excited when I see them start to shed. Kinda like waiting for a butterfly to emerge from her cocoon

My little guys are still give me a hard time with eating. Bonita (one with orange strips) eats a little. But that Racecar seems to becoming a bit frail. I am going to run and get them a something that I can get them outside safely in. Maybe the fresh air and the sun will help ( fingers crossed)

BTW your yellow 3 are so sweet looking. They look like they belong together.
