Well how long does a season last?

debs1018 Jan 26, 2005 12:08 PM

Tiny is in his first season and he is OK but is not eating and lossing weight (well he was FAT before so now looks good). He is wanting out all the time and when you go into his enclosure to say hi or give him food he jumps onto you so that you can take him out. Oh.. he got out yesterday by squeezing between the door and wall. Well we fixed that and he now waits until you are close to him and he gets onto you. So now my question is how long will he be acting this way and when should we start to worry about him not eating.

Nobody knows for sure, it depends on the iguana. Are you sure that he is in the breeding season or it can be another thing that is upseting him?

Well I believe he is in his first . He turned orange on his tail legs, spikes and some on the gowels. I think he is feeling his oats like a teen who thinks he is a man. He hasn't eaten in weeks (well just enough to keep him alive). His potty training went out the door and he always wants out. I was wondering how long will this last.

Im not saying that your ig is not in his breeding season but sometimes when a male thinks his territory is being threatened by another male he can display the same breeding season signs. For instance, my male Godzilla was the sweetest iguana in the whole world until i bought 2 other males and i brought them home. When he felt his territory was being threatened by the new comers he started to display the same signs you described in your message. His wild behavior lasted more than 6/7 months and instead of improving it became worse and worse until he became so wild i was afraid he would seriously bite my daughter or my son and i was forced to adopt him out. I still miss him a lot but i was forced to do that due to his wildness.

Well that can be true. It makes sense but I have not idea what he would think is invading his territory. No knew animals and nothing has changed with his enclosure. Tha only change we have is it has been quite chilly here in Miami Florida. My mali Buddy sometimes does not come out for a day and then the next day comes out and eats and basks all day. Thanks for the info.
