Question about laws on breeding/keeping bp's or burm's in AZ

ThruDaRoof Jan 26, 2005 03:28 PM

Anyone know if there are any laws in AZ about keeping/breeding and selling ball pythons or burm's. I'm just curious because I'm planning on moving out there within a year or two, but I'm also wanting to get into breeding/selling bp's and burm's. I already have 3 bp's and 2 burm's that I plan on breeding. If AZ has any major restrictions/laws that would stop me from pursing my goal, I might just stay where I'm at.

Thanks for any help on this topic.

Arizona Game & Fish does not regulate exotics (not from Arizona). Except exotic venomous (can't have venomous that didn't come from Arizona). So you can't be in possession of Copperheads, etc.. There isn't any regulations on Pythons, Boa Constrictors, etc... from the State of Arizona. However, there could be restrictions from owning pets in Home Owners Assoc's, rentals, etc... I am not aware of certain cities restricting the ownership of reptiles (I'm sure there are some though), BUT I DO KNOW that some cities restrict how many animals you can own within the city limits. Although those laws were originally intended for horses, dogs, cats, etc.., obviously raising snakes or rodents will put you over the limit. I am not aware of cities having a size limit on reptiles, not counties. Of course checking (phone calls etc..) with city officials might not get you accurate info either, LOL
