Investing in a Lesser or Mojave ?

Playball Jan 26, 2005 03:31 PM

Dear fellow herpers,

I would like to invest in a lesser or a mojave and would like to hear the pros and cons of each mutation over and above price?

Please advise

If price where no object I'd pick the Lesser for it's generally more faded color and the potential to eventually produce a Platinum (I would want a lesser directly from a Platinum if possible to insure I get the dilute gene).

Since I live in the real world where price is an object I can't afford either Most likely I’ll first be able to afford a Mojave and be glad to have one.

Why spend 25 - 50K on a Lesser if you can get a Mojave for 8 - 10K? Leucys are the (dead) end result of both.

You can't produce the Platty with the Mojave. You also should look at the difference between the Lucies produced by mojave to lesser, mojave to mojave and platty to lesser.

what's the difference between the Leucys? Do you really think a platty which is a slightly lighter version of a Mojave would be worth an extra $25,000 - $40,000?

"...Do you really think a platty which is a slightly lighter version of a Mojave..."

lol...sorry but that is one of the funniest things I've read today!

There is a huge difference between the two! To put it simply, the 'Platty' bloodline produces a true 'blue-eyed lucy', a PURE white snake with blue eyes, whereas a Mojave doesn't! It produces a white, off-white and yellow snake with blue eye's. Some people however choose not to see this :/

Are you referring to the Ivories produced by Yellow Bellies? The Leucys I've seen posted by Morph King looked like the other Leucys I've seen from the Platty line.

No, I am refering to Platinum and Mojave.
