i just wanted to thank everyone for all the info on tegus.i purchased a b/w from a pet store last night.the store owner said he has had him in the store for 9 months but did not know his age.he is 25 inches and had only been handled to put him in the 10 gal tank upon arrival at store at which time he bit the store owner causing him to need stitches.i was told every negative thing about this little guy,"he is very aggressive,he eats live food, you can't handle him, etc.he was fed 3 times a week.store owner did not know if "monty" was columbian or argentine.i got a better look when we got home he is columbian.he did alot of tongue flicking on my hand in the car.got home took him out of the carrier he was just as calm.today we put owr hands in his cage and talked to him he started tongue flicking and came right into our hands we then picked him up and he sat on our shoulders ran around on the floor.he has not shown any aggresion at all.we are all very happy to have expanded our family.thanks again for all you info.

That is great!!! I love to read positive posts.. and a calm colombian is always a good post to read. It's about time we start letting go of the whole "colombian tegus are all bad" stereotype.

Hope to see you post some pictures.

Wow, you have a tame Colombian? J/K so do I, they are not bad ones. Good to hear he likes you and your family!
