Long tail lizard won't eat

reteze Jan 26, 2005 08:59 PM

My long tail lizard has stopped eating the crickets he's been getting. He seems to be afraid of them. They are not too big, because he's eaten them before. any suggestions
Thanks

Hi!

Have you tried varying his diet with maybe a day or two once in a while feeding him say waxworms? They cost about the same as crickets (.09 cents a piece or so) and most local pet stores often have them at least from time to time. Lizards in the wild are likely to eat a variety of insects, and some may even munch on other things in the wild as well, as they move about and that is what you want to re-create for them in your tank so they don't feel stressed and trapped and confined which is bad for lizards (or any living creature). Think about it - would you want to eat cold cereal all the time day after day?

How long have you had your Long Tail? It would be a good idea if you give at least a brief description of your tank setup since that may help others here who are more experienced right now pick up on something that you hadn't already considered. It's just a suggestion though. Good luck! Peace.
