How long between sheds?

melon88 Jan 26, 2005 10:51 PM

Hi folks! Been reading the forum for a couple of weeks and have already learned quit a bit. My son recently got his Ball and it is the first snake in our family. It is a very friendly guy who so far seems to eat well, except just prior to sheding.

He shed just a couple of weeks after we got him and looks like he is getting ready to shed again just three weeks later. Is this ok or should there normaly be a longer interval. We think he is less than a year old and is about 21 inches long now. Thanks.

Sounds great really. It means he is growing at a good pace. They shed often when they are young and feeding well. Every three to five weeks is very normal. He will slow down as he matures to every month up to three four months apart. Make sure he is sheding all the shed and not leaving some on him. If it comes off in one piece or at least not leaving some on the snake you are doing a good job keeping him hydrated and good humidity.
