Bathing Iggi

ig_daddy Jul 05, 2003 09:57 PM

I just wanted to share this with everyone. Iggi has hated the water for 2 1/2 years. We still gave her a bath every morning, to keep her hydrated, and to poop, if she had to. I gave her a bath yesterday, and she didn't mind staying in. Today she is really relaxed in the water. She stayed in the tub for about a half an hour. It was so different, I had to take a photo. I hope this will mean less scratches in the future during bathtime.

Is she getting near a shed? Sometimes "oh, soaking feels good when I'm about to shed" penetrates through the OMIIGAWDITSABATH!!!! shrieking going on in their heads as you put them in there. But, hopefully, what's really and finally going in there is "oh, baths aren't so bad after all..."

Are you guys as amazed as I am when I suddenly take note one day that a particular iguana, who once was so small that he could freely swim around under water in the tub, now extends practially the entire length of the bathtub? It's like, you know that they are growing and getting bigger, but looking at a photo of them in the tub suddenly brings home just *how* big they've gotten!

Yes, Melissa, she is shedding right now. All the while she is in the tub, I talk to her, and dribble water on her neck and back. Sometimes I gently rub her sides to help get off shed skin. As for her size, that's the largest tub we have, and she used to swim laps in it! I wonder what we're going to do when she's six years old??
