Cuban Knight Anoles

mahimahi12 Jan 27, 2005 12:14 PM

Hi, my name is Amy and I'm new to this, but I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get captive bred Cuban Knight anoles (Anolis equestris). I have a very large tank, almost 1000 gallons, that I am looking to put 4 anoles in. I am looking to put 1 male and 2-3 females in this tank. I am interested in finding out where to get these animals, what their temperament is like, any common health concerns in this species, and any other general husbandry information. Any info that anyone can provide will be much appreciated.

Wow. 1000 gallons to spare for 3 or 4 Knights, eh? Sounds fun.

I can't help you with the captive bred Knights.

I don't think their requirements, in terms of temps, lighting, humidity, substrates etc., is much, if any, different from an A. carolinensis or A. sagrei. They can take larger food, obviously, and they need much more space (which you have covered, and then some).

Glades Herp ususally has wild caught ones for about $15 each. You might also try Diamond Reptile Breeders.
