i have a huuuge take, 5 geckos in it. 1 male 4 females, 2 of the females are high yellows, and theyr alot smaller then the other 3 geckos(likke the other average 9-10 inches, and the 2 HY females are liek 7-8) but theyr healthy, i have 4 egg laying boxes inthe tank, and a biiig hide box for my male.. well all 4 were pregnant, and only 1 of tham layed in a lay box, allt he others layed theirs in their poop corner.. i cleaned it up and the eggs are looking fine, theyr fertile, regular shape, and hard and chalky.. but why wont they lay int he vermiculite! lol n e suggestiions

Well, sometimes the first eggs are not fertile and they dont bother to bury those, but you say yours were fertile, so... Try putting in multiple lay boxes. I always have to take the male out when the females are about to lay, because the male will hog the laybox and the females just aren't pushy enough to boot him out so they lay on the ground. And with your females of different sizes, the larger females may be hogging the lay box and intimidating the smaller ones from using it. There are lots of other possible reasons why, but this is the most likely one in my mind.

hmm. I'm about to put together a similar colony. (1 male, 3 girls, but if there's space.......lol) anyway, I'm wondering about being in your boat next year. PLEASE let me know what solution you find to this problem. Also, did each girl have her own box she had claimed before you put them together?
