Loss of Tail

Niko8 Jan 27, 2005 01:55 PM

Is it very bad for a gecko to lose its tail? Is there anything one can do to alleviate the pain or make it grow back better? I don't know.
Anyways...

It is a defense mechanism for a gecko to drop its tail. since its natural i don't believe there is any pain since their made to drop off. be sure the gecko is fed well and supplemented with calcium and vits while its tail regens. also keeping it on a clean substate like paper towels is a good idea to help ward off any possible infection. i've heard of people putting a little antibacterial ointment on them but i've never tried that and havent had any probs with tails regenerating.
