crickets...help

denise1 Jan 27, 2005 03:41 PM

can anyone reccommend a good place to buy crickets...I'm hoping to find someone that would ship overnight through the postal service...I work so cannot be home, most places will not gaurantee live delivery if noone is home...and it is very cold here so crix left at the door probably wouldn't survive...however I do work at the post office and could receive them from the express delivery man...crix would be inside warm and I could put in some gutload and orange...Thanx...

Where do you live ? Most of the pet stores in Silicon Vally are open late and you could shop after work.

Here are a few places you can check out for feeders of all kinds:

www.southerncricket.com --> The usual crickets, mealies, supers, and waxies etc

www.mulberryfarms --> silkies, hornworms, crix, supers, sometimes roaches

www.superwormfarm.com --> crix, mealies, supers, waxies etc

www.californiasilkorms.com --> silkies, roaches, possibly other feeders

www.herpfood.com --> crickets, small amts of silks, hornworms, butterworms, waxies etc

www.reptilefood.com --> crix, mealies, waxies, supers etc

Just take a look, a wide variety. Check and compare prices and nearness, Ive ordered from all of these and they all are great.

More of you beardie folks should look into alternative feeders. I have breed lots of dragons both bearded and frilleds. Instead of eating dozens of crickets that probably are poorly cared for by the large breeders or pet stores you could feed a few roaches and get better results. I know your think roaches, he must be nuts, but I've been doing this for a long time and they are the real deal. They are such a good feeder that I even decided to start selling them so more people could benefit from them. I am breeding very rare knobtails at the moment and they are thriving on roaches. Roaches are also a very common food source in Austraila, Indo, and pretty much any country. Reptiles have been eating them for 300 million years. I have some good papers on my site under the Help & Support section, and will have a few more posted soon. I am not trying to sell you roaches, just giving you alternatives to your dragon eating 38 crickets a day.
Thx,
James
