how do you sex Bearded dragons?

With babies it's almost impossible, but you can get a good guess by holding your beardie belly-up (mine hated this) and look for differences in the angle of the tail. In males the tail doesn't taper as sharpley from the vent; the tail appears to be slightly thicker than females. So you need to compare a male and female or have lots of experance doing this. (I've heard those who have experiance sexing baby snakes could probably relably sex baby dragons)They try to manually evert the hemiphenes of a male. (don't try, you could hurt the beardie)

With older, mature beardies:
1.) the head of males becomes much wider than that of the female.
2.) When you pull back the flap of skin covering the cloaca the male's opening is much larger than a female's.
3.) The way to sex babies- try it 4 adults too.
4.) Females are significantly more bodied.
5.) watch 4 mating behaviors- females tend to do arm waving and males become a bit more agressive.
6.) Male beardies have darker throats.
7.) IF experianced try to manually evert the hemipenes- can only do w/ males. PLEASE DON"T try if not experianced- you could seriously injure the beardie.
