I have a 20 month old dragon who is in the process of laying her 4th clutch (off of one breeding). Her 1st clutch was 24 good looking eggs...should be hatching in 2 to 4 weeks appx. Her second was 11 good 10 bad eggs, Her 3rd was 1 good and 11 bad and from what I can tell this one has maybe 1 good egg. She is laying appx every 2 weeks. I tried feeding her a pinkie after the last clutch to help fatten her up but she wouldn't have anything to do with it. I feed her Rep Cal Pellets daily, Greens about every other day. and extra vitamins, calcium at least 3-4 times a week. I don't know what I am doing wrong.

Well, the first thing wrong is greens should be offered daily... especially with a gravid dragon.. also should be feeding her crickets to help with the protein, possibly some supers and wax worms thrown in there to help add weight while gravid.

It's extremely important before they become gravid for the female dragon to have lots of weight and extra calcium reserves to use for laying the eggs. It sounds like she did not have sufficient reserves prior to breeding to handle the amount of eggs she is laying.

If this is her first year laying, that could also contribute to her laying more infertile eggs... but from your post, my guess would be she was not sufficiently prepared and maintained during breeding/laying to handle the load. I'd give her crickets and supers and wax worms to bulk her up some and give her greens everyday regardless of whether or not she's gravid. When they are gravid however, they will eat a lot more then normal a lot of times.

g'luck.

I can't hardly get her to eat greens. I offer her Romaine, kale, collard greens etc. but I never see her eat it. I offer it anyway and I try to hand feed her a piece once in a while to get her to eat it. I will try the supers etc. It is her first year to breed and I thought I was doing everything the way I was supposed to but I guess not. Thanks for the advice!!!

Your welcome... yea, i have one that is a fussy eater about their greens too... the crickets and supers and wax worms should help.. also try dusting her pellets with shaved cuttlebone sprinklings to give her some extra calcium... you'll want to make sure she has as much to eat as she can...
