When to say when A feeding question

chuck76 Jan 28, 2005 01:13 AM

I have a juvenile jungle diamond cross, she is about 10 inch and she is feeding on small prekilled frozen fuzzies. She is feeding weekly. Last week she ate one and "killed" the secoend one I fed her and left it. Today I fed her two of them she ate them no problem and was looking for more, so I figured if she wants more and I gave her one more which she ate. She was still looking for more after that, but I thought that three was enough. I don't want to over feed her, but I really am not sure wht is over feeding. I need a little guidance from the pro's

Fuzzy rats??
It probobly doesnt need three...it might be time to feed somthing bigger...I usually just feed one big prey item to my snakes

I think you are feeding way too much. A carpet that young and small needs one mouse fuzzy or rat pink at each meal. If you fed them based on their "want" for food they would always be hungry, feed them by their "need", which is far less often. When the lump from the fuzzy isn't visible at each feeding then step up to the next larger prey item, but I wouldn't stuff them full just because they still look hungry.

She looked hungery was a bad choise of words, I fed her the 2nd I will call them mouse fuzzies because they had just a hint of fur but they were more like pinkies, I didn't really see very much of a lump in her stomach so I gave her the third one which in reality she probally didn't need. Thank you for your help
