Qustion on Wild Caught??

wingert Jan 28, 2005 02:40 AM

Do most wild caught Ball Pythons eventualy come around and feed and maybe some day breed and become healthy snakes? Assuming, of course, they are properly treated for parasites and such.

I know it is best to start with cbb or young ch but, as with most of us I'm sure, I have a few older females that are questionable. They are supposed to be cb or ch pets some one gave up. I have two right now and got them this winter. They have been treated twice but have not feed. I am hoping that, like the rest of my girls, they are off feed. I had temps down for a bit and even the girls I have been bringing up went off feed. They were feeding heavy on rat pups up till December. So I am hoping that every one starts plunggin them away soon. I am sure the ones that ate before will but what if the othwers don't. Will they most likely someday? Or do wc never really come around?
Thanks for any help!
Kevin

Some WC come around, and some do not. For what it is worth, the ball python that holds the record for longevity was wild caught as an adult.

The half dozen I've owned all came around, but I've known of others that did not. Partly it depends on the snake's age, partly the experience of the owner. Younger ones are more likely to adjust than older. Good luck.
