Well, about a month ago I noticed that my melanistic eastern garter snake male had blue eyes. Plenty of people told me not to worry about it, it will shed in brumation, etc. etc. Well I went to check on my brumating snakes last week, and I saw the mel. underwater in his waterbowl, not moving. After about 5 minutes he was active again from moving around in my hands. Well, he didn't shed, and picking off the shedded skin is not working for either of us, as he is not in a nice mood right now. I have him in a plastic container, with 2 inches of moss, and rocks to shed on, the container gets sprayed with water once a day to make it humid inside. I'm hoping the humidity will help the snake losen it's skin, any other ideas?
