is there a prise difference between WC and CB pythons if so, how much of a diff?

I would say YES, to the PRICE difference. I would have to say that it is 200-300% maybe more. Take ball pythons you can pick up IMPORTED adult females for 20-50.00 and most CB adult females are gonna cost you 100-500.00 depending on the size. Just ask Jeff F. he sells CBB baby male ball pythons for 85.00 and you can get a baby IMPORTED ball python for around 15.00 at a show. So I WOULD SAY that the mark-up for captive born is around several 100%. But then again Jeff F. thinks that all Imorts are GARBAGE....LOL...Hope this helps, DAVID

LOL, I don't think snakes can get PMS, but wild caught might be a little touchy. Difference in price between wild caught and captive born is the fact that wild caught can harbor parasites of all kinds making them a bigger risk as a pet. Most can be fixed with a trip or two to the vets, but figuring the price of the snake and the vet bill you might be better off buying a captive born to begin with. Just a better deal all round I think.

Personally I think WC balls are a bit more difficult to take care of at first. CB or CBB is the way to go for a first snake. WC needs to be treated for parasites and (most likely) mites, and be dewormed. They often are hard to get to eat, and remember they are taken from the wild. They have never been in captivity before. I've heard tales from people about WC's they've gotten that have NEVER taken to captivity and either died or had to be force fed, but still had many problems.

I would highly sugegst a CB for your first. Plus I was told that WC snakes generally *can* be more aggressive. WC snakes are so much cheaper than CB ones because of just that. They are caught in the wild and imported. No none has had to raise them up. You're guess would be as good as anyone's as to how many problems they might have.

NO! a WC is a bad idea as a first snake, or for any snake for that matter. Regardless fo what some loco boys are saying, WC's are not a good pet.

I will definitely say to go with a "well-started" CBB. That way you will have a snake that is accustomed to life in captivity, is more relaxed, a better feeder, and you will enjoy him that much more. Be sure to research all the caging and husbandry before getting him, follow the advice of the breeder and on the caresheets, and you will have a pet that you will enjoy for a couple of decades or more.

EVERYTHING I put in my post was directly related to the question. It was about the Price difference between CCB and Imported, I explained the mark-up, I feel in no way was it childish at all. But everyne has opinions. MINE WAS STATED. Yeah the issue between us should be dropped but I felt that this question was pertaining to the 85.00 captive born snake verses the 6.00 import baby. I am not on here to make anyone happy or fight with anyone but if someone steps to the Plate they better be ready to Play Ball All Day Long. Because I ain't a quiting kind of guy. Just me. I know what you mean. I moved to South Carolina a few years ago from VA Beach. It was difinitely a culture shock with the local lingo and depressingly slaughtered pronunciations...to say the least. =/

And I have yet to find a native-born Southerner who can distinguish "pen" from "pin" in spoken conversation. =/

The phrase "Dont look a gift horse in the mouth" had to do with the tattooed identification on the horses lower lip.Which,if you think about it...it was the equivelent of the modern day Avid chip.

is much older than the Jockey Club's practice of tattooing the upper lip of Thoroughbred racehorses. The phrase stems from the ability to tell a horse's age by its teeth. If you were buying or trading for a horse, it was standard practice to not only check the teeth to verify its alleged age, but to pick up all four feet and inspect the hooves and legs. Kinda like kicking a car's tires and looking under the hood before commiting to buy. Most often these "gift horses" were past their prime, so it became a bit rude to look at its teeth upon receiving, plus it was usually a quick look for disappointment. The phrase dates back to at least early 19th century that I know of. Just some weekend trivia for those aspiring to be on Jeopardy LOL

They want a healthy pet with no parasites and a clean history and customer support should something go wrong. Why is that so hard to understand if you're 38 years old? Why would he have posted this if he wasn't doing EXACTLY the same thing? I could never understand that. People post and say "why do you bother with these threads, why are you stirring the post, taking shots at people, etc etc etc" yet they go and do the EXACT SAME thing, in the SAME thread no less! "Don't you all have better things to do" he says. But then he goes and does the EXACT same thign we were doing. Worse actually, as the thread doesn't even INVOLVE him at all.

IMO - WC, CH and bush babbies should only be in the hands of experienced snake keepers. The money you save from buying these little guys, is not worth the price you'll have to pay for vet bills, parasite treatments, and 30 years worth of feeding disorders. Yes, there is a chance you can get one that will be parasite free and acclimate well but the chance is slim. They have their place in breeding but not a good beginner snake.

As far as the price difference between normal males and females, I think it's all a breeding thing, one male can take care of several females, so you don't need a bunch of them, plus they start breeding much early than the females. So there is an abundance of males floating around.

As far as PMS'y snakes, not really a big difference between the males and females, I've had both and really they have pretty docile wonderful temperments. I've heard that the females can sometimes be a little more nippy than the guys, but that may have more to do with breeding, I'm not sure.
