*** GROWING IGUANA ***

girlything10 Jan 28, 2005 11:34 AM

Hey, I had a quick question about my lil iggy..anyhow, i was wondering...How fast do they actually grow because my iggy is just a lil thing and his head has shed twice now and everything else once. But like I was wondering how often do they shed and when will he be noticably larger? because I cannot notice him growing. But I do know that when they shed it is a sign of growth. So he must be doing something. well thanks!

Bye!

Measure him regularly, you'll see if he grows. How long he is and how old he is ?

When my ig was a baby I used to keep a log of how much he was growing monthly. He didn't seem to be growing very fast at all to me, but when I kept a record of his measurements, he was growing quite quickly. I think he was almost full length size by the time he was 4, and for the past 11 yrs, he's been just filling out width wise (he's not overweight though). I even did 2 of those clays paw/handprints with him. (I was in middle school when I got him, I'm now 25 and in college.) There was a major difference in a 1 year time period. Iguanas seem to shed all the time in little patches. I think there is only like one week out of the month where mine isn't shedding at all. Not like my gecko who sheds all at one time.

Iggi was 6 months old in the 2001 picture. She is now 4 1/2. Here is a picture of her on my wife, taken when she was about 4 years old.

Awww. . . he's a cutie, with those big eyes. You might want to surf over to www.iguana-zone.com. That is an iguana specific website that I have other pictures on, too. I'm ig_daddy there, too.
