Temperature Flux

CJBianco Jan 28, 2005 11:46 AM

My rack system is a Jason's Jungle with Big Apple Proportional Thermostat. When I first calibrated this system a few months ago, the temp would fluctuate between 90.1 and 90.6 degrees -- fairly steady. I decided to check the temps again with my digital hi/low thermometer last night. Now it's reading between 87.4 and 90.5 degrees -- quite a difference compared to earlier tests.

My girls went off feed back in late November, with each feeding only once in December.

So my question: Could this temp flux be triggering the fasting? I know it's only a few degrees, but I'm still new and I don't know what a few degrees can do yet. Also, would getting the temperature steady again help trigger them back into eating mode?

(Side Note: When buying a thermostat, buy one with a current temp reading.)

Thanks,
Chris

Most balls go off their feed during the regular breeding season which runs from early November till about mid march, in general. As long as it's not loosing alot of weight I don't think I'd be too concerned. It'll feed again probably within the next month or two.
