Well last night, my crested, Bandit died of uknown causes. I am now on a mission to find out what killed him that didnt show up on th vet report.

It was sudden, but prior to winter, he had lost afew grams, but put them back on and then.... he got skinnier and skinneier, then he just died. I had had him to the vet nd they said he was fine... go figure

As for your vet, honestly, most aren't prepared to look for problems like this. There are several papers where many zoos have had to specifically go back to old samples and re-evaluate them to catch organisms like these (including coccidia and others).

Is that "Entamoeba" disorder something that they can carry around w/o symptoms for awhile before it takes them out? It would seem that MacArthur had Bandit for months at least before he succombed. It makes me wonder how long a quarantine period realistically needs to be to protect the rest of one's colony from something brought in with new arrivals.
