With or without the peas still attached? They should be okay as long as you give them mostly the sprouts and not too many of the actual peas.

It is just the sprouts (seedlings), like alfalfa sprouts but for sweet peas. I bought them at an organic food store. I am still trying to find something that our sick cherryhead will eat.

Have you tried fruit? Grated apple is good for a sick redfoot. Any soft fruit will usually also work to get them eating again.

did that tort ever ate ANYTHING since the day it got to you?

She has started eating wheat grass, not a lot but some. She has had a feeding tube in place since January 10th. The other tortoise eats everything.
I am not going to feed the sweet pea shoots, I saw where sweet pea stems are toxic- so do not want to risk it. If you have any ideas let me know.

...i would rather give her cactus shoots or babyfood (yes, "veggies-in-da-jar" for primate bambinos that is) as some folk would sugest when forcefeeding (ouch!), it's good that she started eating on her own (?), try to pureé a small amount of milk/sow thistles,nopales,apple,cantaloupe(and/or mama mia: M****i...huhhhhhh...knock! knock! here we (might) go again anyone?)...ect. and mix with chopped wheat grass (her building blocks) and see if you could kickstart that babe...btw, what has been done on the med side? did da bugs got taken care of if any?

she has had metronidazole and zithromax. She is going for a recheck next week. Where can I get cactus shoots?

ecoman Feb 05, 2005 03:12 AM

...right here...

golfdiva Feb 06, 2005 09:18 PM

I just got done taking my Zithromax too! Can't say as I see much improvement in MY illeness!! ; )

Just a little levity to break the tension! Hope your tort gets on the right track soon!
