Ideal Set-up... what would you do?

Misskiwi67 Jan 28, 2005 09:32 PM

Hello,

I have two small (1 inch) whites tree frogs in a 20 gallon tall aquarium, and I'm thinking it needs a change. I'm not satisfied with how it looks, it seems to have too much humidity, there is always condensation on the inside, and the moss dries out too quickly over their heat mat, so they get moss stuck to them, and then I worry their not getting enough moisture. One of the two frogs isn't thriving, but even if he was, it just doesn't feel like its ideal, so I want to make sure it is.

If you had a 20 gallon tank, and money was no object, what would you do to make it the perfect home? I do have a budget, but pretend I don't, this way I know what to work for.

Currently there is a large plant in the center, a water dish on both sides (warm and cold) of the tank, and a log that creates a hiding spot between the plant and the warm water dish. I use sphagnum moss as a substrate.

This is what I'm trying: go to Black Jungle (the website) and they sell Dart Frog kits but they would work for White's too. They have a Starter and a Deluxe kit for 20 gallon tall tanks. The kits make beautiful, zoo quality cages! Good luck!!!

With their size white's would trash up any plants from black jungle you put in there. Get rid of the heat mat and change from spagnum moss to bed a beast or similar product. good luck

Can I ask why you suggest those things?

Because the bed a beast would hold moisture and also it doesnt seem to rot. I agree with bedabeast and mayb some live moss. Pothos works well for me. Ill try to post my setup some time.
