Another question about not eating

Melle Jan 28, 2005 10:07 PM

Hello,
I posted a while back about my hog island going through a winter slowdown period off food. He is a year and a half and this is the first winter he has gone off food (also my first snake ever, have had lizards go off food for winter but this is the first snake for me). Now, he hasnt eaten anything at all for about 2.5 months now. he was eating 2 small thawed rats religiously once a week before he stopped. He's not losing weight or anything, pretty much just acts normal too. My question is, how long should i wait before i actually need to worry about it? should i just assume that if hes holding his weight he will be fine, and come spring he should start eating again? I'm offering him one rat every few weeks now just to see if he is hungry, but he doesnt eat em so i have been throwing out lotsa uneaten rats lately, hehe. Thanks for any info
