Sorry for all the questions, but I new to leos...

RaderRVT Jan 28, 2005 11:07 PM

My new leo from Tundra Geckos is stressed. She is very light in color. Yesterday she was bright and active, today she is quiter adn very pale. I emailed David and he said to put her in a tub type enclosure with paper towel substrate. I did this. How long until she settles in. I have not fed her yet. I was waiting for her to settle in. Should I offer food anyway?

Set up:

Warm side 92 cool side 82 (temp gun)
half log hide with sphagum (sp?) moss
Reptile Carpet substrate
Shallow water dish

was in 20 gal long tank now in rubbermaid container.

Thanks,

Is it possible she has gone into a shed cycle? I see you're new to leos, if you're new to geckos in general you might not recognize the signs of this. The lighter color plus the less active and wanting to hide, could be she is getting ready to shed in a day or 3.

Could she go into shed that fast? Yes, I am brand new to geckos. I have beardies and skinks. I mean, she was literally exactly like the picture I posted (here it is again) yesterday and pale (almost white) today. If so, then yes she does look like your gecko in shed. Thanks again for your help. Sorry to be so needy. Just want to make sure I am doing everything right.

yeah, if she went pale/almost white overnite then she's about to shed. She might be shedding right now, go see. If not, for sure by morning she'll be looking normal again.

First off thanks. and yeah shedding is quick, that process happened in a matter of 30 minutes.

I had stressed her out somehow. She made it across the US very colorful and then the next day she is white. I will let you know if she sheds!

Did you make sure she has no left over shed on her toes or other parts of her body?

RaderRVT Jan 29, 2005 06:00 PM

Yep, she did a nice job. I saw a little bit on top of her knee, but I figured she would get that off. It is not around anything just a little patch (about 2mm around) on top of what would be her knee cap.

If she doesn't get that off by tomorrow morning soak her in room temp water for about 5 minuts and use a Q tip to get the excess shed off.

She is back to her active inquisitive self. I am glad it was just shedding. Boy, that is sure different than beardies. I comes on all of a sudden.
