How often do they shed?

Fuj Jan 28, 2005 11:34 PM

I have a couple of babies - 7 and 9 week olds.
I'm curious how often they should shed?
Does their color get dark prior to shedding?
Any other signs prior to a shed?

Thanks!
Dan

This may sound weird but I know my dragon is close to shedding because the edges of the scales start to look blurry... if that makes sense. I've noticed shedding as more random than anything else.

Thanks -

Is it not something like once or twice or six times a year?

On a sidenote - what does the 0.1 versus 1.0 etc mean on the numbers?

Thanks!

Babies and juveniles seem to constantly be in shed, but I'm not sure about adults. As far as teh 1.0 thing, 1.0 means one male, 0.1 means one female, and 0.0.1 means unknown.

How often they shed depends on a lot of things, some of them being how well they are feed and how fast they are growing, not to mention in what kind of health they are in, healthy dragons will grow faster and eat better than a sick dragon or a dragon that is full of parasites. I know when mine is going to shed, because his skin will turn this blue/gray color on the part of his body that is going to shed. You might call it turning darker.
