I tried the wet paper towels thing today. I waited till it was dry to put the leos in and feed them crix. it worked so good! thanks for this tip. (and howz that lil pimp doin?)

Your welcome Leafer. He is doing good. I have him in with one female that is graved right now and should be laying soon. I also got the 2 albinos from Garrick last week. In about a month, they will be able to breed. I can't wait to see some albino babies.

Well it would be near the top if you didn't make 4 threads for one post. Also it has been at the top before so the thread has been read and that means if someone really wants to know the answer they will simply scroll down to half the screen (where the original post is) and take a look at it.

But since you seem to like to waste my time i'd like to ask you a question, how am i not giving "good" info about this topic a couple posts down about why you should change the paper towels daily. I really think you need to learn your facts before you start talking to me how you are.

Well thats great you think that but i'd rather not see someones gecko die from some false info you say, you heard that something was one way and it got inbedded in your mind, when i try to correct it you just say its non-helpful... I bet it feels good when you suggested something and their gecko dies because you had no expierence behind it but heard someone else say it before.

I keep hearing that you have so much experience, im wonderin how long have you kept leos since you say you know more than everyone here.

I agree with you entirely on changing the entire towel after a bowel movement but when someone is giving advice about how to keep crickets from hiding I don't think it is a waste of time or space. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME ON REPLYING.

Sorry i must be holusinating from this crack or something but i see nothing about how good witeleo's and leaftail's info was. You don't even have a gecko yet so how could you even tell me what info was "good" or what info was "bad". You can read all you want but i talk from both expierence and literature not just literature like you.

If you have a UTH adhered to the bottom of the tank, you DO NOT want the substrate to get moist. It can cause stress cracks in the glass.

If you're having problems with crickets getting under the paper towels, just place the cage furniture and food/water bowls around the tank so that they hold down the paper towels like paper weights.

You only need the towel wet for 5 minutes, to dry. Then it will be stuck to the tank. Then you can tunr the UTH back on.

Yeah but that puts a lot of stress on the leos too. The UTH usually takes 10 minutes to cool off, then 5 minutes of drying (the paper towel) and 30 minutes to warm back up again. And you have to do this every time they deficate which is usually daily. So that will cause a lot of stress on your leos, Xelda's theory is better for the leo and saves time.

Or, if your setup isnt a glass tank with UTH stuck on, you can use Austin's method. Like for me, my juvies/hatchlings are in plastic bins and the UTH is not attached. So it's not a problem in that case.

Most people don't have or use an UTH.

Also, why would you need to change the paper towel everyday. If you have one poop on it, just take off the poop, don't change the towel.

Actually a majority of the people on this site use an UTH. You'd haev to change it every day because stools are usually a little bit wet when they first come out and that stains the paper towels and can cause some bacterial growth and it gives the tank an odar. The only way you can get rid of the odar is by changing paper towels. Oh yeah and im not on your case, if you'd give the full (and right)answer people won't have to post after you explaing to the people whats up. Im not out to get you, i just don't want people's leopards living in a cage smelling like their feces all the time.

It's imperative to replace the paper towels frequently to avoid bacterial growth AND odor, especially when you get into keeping rack systems that create smaller, less-ventilated enclosures.

I also want to add that the main advantage of using paper towels is being able to maintain a more sanitary environment by putting in clean substrate often. Laying down wet paper towels, even for a short period of time, would ACCELERATE bacteria growth which kind of defeats the purpose of cleaning the cage. The only exception would be if you sterilized the tank each time before replacing the paper towels.

I'm planning to use this method in their feeding tub only. That's where I feed them the crix that get under the paper towels. They only stay in there for up to a half hour to eat. But I see your point about the bacteria in their enclosures.
