Just a quick question: I was wondering what you all used for substrate. I am using un-patterned (no dye) paper towel for now.

Newspaper, cypress mulch, bark chips, care-fresh, unprinted paper stock, paper towel, etc etc. They all work. I like cypress mulch the best. I tried aspen for about 30 snakes and I HATED the stuff. Works good for desert stuff like Rosies, Womas, Blackheads, Kenyans, etc etc, but for Balls I thought it sucked.
Everyone has their favorites..........
Sounds like what you're using is fine. I prefer Newspaper. It's cheap, clean, easy, fast, sterile, and delivered. Oh! And you could read it, too.

I use coconut husk. She seems to like it.

I was a hard one to convert but cypress mulch is the only way to go with BPs for me........holds humidity and handles waster better than any thing else. (cheap too)
Best bet is to try different things and see which works best for you and your snakes.
Good luck,
Tony
Aspen works great for me. Easy to spot clean.
