pitfall traps?

Has anyone used pitfall traps? i wont to sit some this coming spring and was wanting some info. and tips on them

They are illegal in most states. Laws usually state that reptiles and amphibians can only be collected by hand or a hand held device.

Not sure about Alabama. I couldn't find any prohibition. The state does have a relativly large list of protected species though, close to 2 dozen. I would just call and inquire. I bet you might just need a fishing liscense, if that.
