Although there has not been much recent activity here, the society continues to be quite active. Our next meeting is February 19, and we'll have Lee Ann Linam talking with us about the TPWD programs where people like us help keep track of how wildlife species are doing (including Amphibian Watch and Horned Lizard Watch). Visitors are welcome!
The newsletter continues to have a mix of original articles. Last month's "herp of the month" covered the cottonmouth, and this one will describe the spotted chorus frog. There is also an article by Zooniversity's Allison Blankenship about Salmonella. Steve Campbell continues to contribute his humorous observations in "From Under My Rock."
The Conservation Committee continues in an ongoing survey at the Ft. Worth Nature Center, and we'll take a trip this spring to see and photograph the Big Thicket in southeast Texas. We are partners with other societies in the Box Turtle Partnership of Texas, and I'll be doing a talk at the ETHS in March on box turtle conservation.
