yes there was a herpteologist that was bitten by a krait and did die from the bite, i remember reading the whole story about it some time ago. basicly what happened was he was studying kraits and one of his assitants caught a snake but didnt realize it was a krait, when Mr. Slowinski took it out of the bag he bit him and he realized it was a krait. His team kept him alive for a long time (i forget the amount) until he could be removed from the area and get medical attention, but unfortunatly he didnt make it. And yes Pantherophsis Gutatta slowinski was named for him , i belive.
