Hi A,
Some people would not agree but as long as it is healthy
i would. I have my 41/2 foot burm in with my 4 foot rock i am bulding a new cage for the rock . The rock was a rescue and i did not want to see anything happen to him. The person i gotten him from did not want him any more .Make sure you feed them in differnt places i use 30 gallon rubbermaids.

Good luck!

You might be able to find a big rubbermaid to put it in until you get a cage for it. i have a pretty big one that only cost a few bucks and would work temporarily....If not i cant imagine it being a huge problem...some will probobly disagree...but if i had nothing to put one in i would probobly do it for a couple weeks till i could build or buy somthing...sounds like the snake needs a home right now anyway.

before you even think about putting a new snake within your existing colony(whether your colony consists of a single snake or hundreds) you need to quarantine it. It should also be ytaken to a vet for a checkup and fecal. After a vet check and no signs of any issues for a month or so then if you absolutely have to it should be ok for a temporary solution but I would never recommend it for a permenant solution. Todd

What exaclty is the point of a fecal?? I have never had one done.
I thought it was for parisites??

precisely. if you don't know the history of this new burm then if it has parasites it would be a good idea to keep it seperate from the existing (most likely) parasite free snake.

It is a dumb idea to throw a RESCUED burm in with your already healthy snakes. Go to home depot get the biggest rubber maid and tape a heat pad on the bottom with foil tape, dont take the heat pads sealing off, then put sum towels on the inside so the snake isn't in direct contact with the plastic. Make sure you give the heat pad a few hours off so it doesnt over heat. Not the best solution but it will work and has worked for me for a few months. If you dont have a heat pad you could try making some sort of screen top but most my snakes escaped from that. If you really have no other choice then either letting this burm die or take it home and mix it with ur population then ofcoure take it home, then to the vet. I hope anything i said help.

My brother owns a ball python and has for some time. He made the folish mistake of buying another one and before getting it a new cage put the new animal in the same enclosure as his already existing ball. A day later both were showing signs of respritory infection and the new animal eventually died.
Also I once saw to red tails that were housed together and were feed at the same time. When the gentlemen went to put the first rat in the snakes began to bite each other fighting over the rat. (This could be easily avoided even if housed together..(feed seperately).. but I still found it amazing.
Anyway, I agree with the idea of not housing the two together, at least initally. Not to mention i just couldnt help think anyone would let a 4.5 foot granite burm go, probable an escapee..? God Luck whatever you do.
