I went to the airport today and picked up a pair of Eastern Diamondbacks. They are around a year of age!
Anyways when I checked the back I notice the female was in the process of shedding.
After a few hour drive, I arrived and home and noticed she had completely shed out. To my suprise she was missing her rattle.
There was only a black point there. After further inspection of the shed I noticed the rattles actually came off with the shed. Like an exoskeleton and are still attached to the shed!!
This is not a big deal or anything as I plan on never selling her. I was just wondering if I needed to doctor the tip of her tail?? It was not bleeding or anything but I was concerned with her damageing it due to it being soft or rather looking soft. I have several other species of Rattlesnakes and have never had this occur. I have had them break them off but not literally come off!!
Any help or comments would be appreciated!!
Thanks,
Gilbert
