Cornutum egg incubation

ATEAMLUCKY Jan 30, 2005 12:34 PM

Hey horned lizard afficionados,

Has anyone out there in horned lizard land ever incubated cornutum eggs. I'm looking for info on Temp, moisture level, and substrate type. If not, info on incubating other species eggs would also be helpful. I've got an older paper (I think it's Montanucci 1976) which gives some general guidelines for the genus as a whole but it is not species specific. Anyway no reason for me to reinvent the wheel if it's already been done.

Thanks in advance,

Aaron Dickey

Hi Aaron,
I was hoping a few others would chime in on this one. I have not done Cornutum eggs, but they should not be substantially different than Solare. Check out my website and you'll get some good info and pics of incubator setups.
Thanks

All HL eggs should be incubated somewhere in the mid 80s F in moist but not wet perlite or vermeculite. Small holes should be punched in the container to allow air exchange but not much moisture lose. The U.S. species usually hatch in 40 to 50 days. Let me know if you have any further questions.
